UK-SA Exhibition - To the Spirit Unconquered
An art exhibition co-ordinated by Janet Boateng (UK), the British
Council and Iziko will be mounted in the Slave Lodge in late 2007. The
body of work is a salutation to those who perished and suffered the
human indignities of that era. The exhibition and related educational
programmes will include the work of both UK artists from the diaspora
and their South African counter-parts. Artists will visit South Africa
and a series of practical engagements is being organized.
Turning the Tables
A play commissioned by Museum of London, was scripted by John
Matshikiza, South African playwright, with the replica TF Buxton’s
table touring UK, and an adaptation of the play will be used as
reference by SA and Barbados. Supporting educational programmes,
including various post-performance discussions and skills development
workshops will tap into local literature, issues and contextual
