If you're over 7 years of age and love mysteries, then Iziko
Museums is the place for you. These winter holidays, Iziko is
offering a whole bag of surprises at a host of different venues.
On 10 July from 10:00-13:00. Using a selection of the
strangest ingredients from potatoes and cabbage to nuts, bottle
tops and tempera paints, participants, aged 7 to 70, will
produce unusual portraits whilst discovering the basics of
colour theory. "Printing is fun" runs at
Iziko
SA National Gallery; entry
is R15 including materials.
On 11 July from 10:00-12:00: Become part of the "Amazing
Treasure Search". Challenged by puzzles, passwords and detours,
participants will seek answers to the mystery of life - or such
features of it as fossils, reptiles, mammals and marine life.
Participants, aged 8-80 years, will also learn how to do rock
art and "trance dance." The venue is
Iziko SA Museum
and the cost
is R10.
On 12 July from 10:00-12:00, participants will create a
replica of the
Castle, the
oldest building in Cape Town and historically, the most
interesting in the land. The castle model is used as a board
game, after which participants embark on a real-life mystery
journey through this formidable heritage site. The cost is R15
and is suitable for 9-12-year olds.
On 13 July from 10:00-1200, Iziko educators will play
host in a mystery behind-the-scenes tour that promises to reveal
secrets, surprises and glimpses into the past. Suitable for 8
upwards, the event is R10.
Numbers are limited and early booking is essential. Enq: Lungi
