MOSAIC WORKSHOP

TAXIDERMY WORKSHOP

Aimed at those who may be
considering taxidermy as a career, the 5-day workshop teaches the
basic skills and diverse applications of this complex art.
Participants will learn to prepare and mount skeletons of small
mammals or birds and how to preserve specimens in alcohol. Suitable
for participants aged 15 years and older.
SLAVERY WALKING TRAIL

The walking trail begins at the
Iziko Slave Lodge Museum where
participants view the plaque which commemorates the place where slaves
were auctioned, and how the building and street names have changed
since 1658. A short tour covers the conditions that slaves lived under
at the Slave Lodge, their work, the voyages they were forced to
undertake, the different Indian Ocean Islands they originated from and
their legacy in the history of Cape Town. After the tour of the Slave
Lodge Museum, participants are led to the
Bo- Kaap
Museum where the focus is the lives of urban slaves, a
visit to the first mosque, The Awaal Mosque and The Tana Baru
Cemetery. The group will end with a visit to the Slave Church in Long
Street, looking at the role of Missionary Churches in Cape Town.
