The tour starts on Saturday morning at 8h30 at the Royal Observatory,
leaving at about 10h00 for Sutherland. There will be a short lecture en
route on the geology of the Karoo. A tour of the observatory at Sutherland
is followed by dinner at the Sutherland Hotel and, weather permitting, a
return visit to the Observatory to view the sky through the telescopes. On
Sunday there is no set itinerary, but a visit to the museums in
Matjiesfontein is recommended. |
