Winter Public Programme: 28 June - 30 July 2008
Registration for Iziko's Winter Public Programmes is now open.  Click here for more details...

The main annual public programmes are  the Iziko Museums' Summer School (a programme of lectures, film screenings and field trips offered daily throughout February) and the Winter Public Programme (similar programmes, daily, throughout July).

Iziko is a host and partner in several annual Cape Town events, including the Cape Town Festival and the Learning Cape Festival. With our partner Artscape, we present the African Roots Festival every September, a two week long community-based programme that culminates in a festival on Heritage Day. Last year an off-shoot programme of the African Roots Festival was presented on Africa Day.

Iziko also marks most commemorative public holidays with public programmes and activities. The 2007/08 commemorative programmes will focus on:

  • Human Rights Day  – 21 March
  • Freedom Day – 27 April (Public Lecture on 24 April 2008)
  • Youth Day – 16 June
  • National Women’s Day – 9 August
  • Heritage Day – 24 September
