Become a model
ship builder on Heritage Day
The fine art of ship model
building will be demonstrated at the new Iziko Maritime Centre
in the V & A Waterfront on Heritage Day (24 September). Among
the techniques presented will be carving and planking ship
boats, rope making and rigging a ship, making guns, rudders and
anchors, and lots more.

Making waves - a selection from
the SABC art collection
A version of this exhibition, previously shown at the
Johannesburg Art Gallery in 2004–5 and at the National Arts
Festival in Grahamstown in 2006, is to be shown at the Iziko
Good Hope Gallery at the Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town from
September 6th to October 28th 2007.

organised a series of conducted tours at their sites. Each tour

Africa's peace parks
Peace will be the theme of the next Friends of the South
African Museum talk to be held at the Iziko South African Museum
on Tuesday, 25 September at 19:00. Maano Ramutsindela, Associate
Professor of Environmental and Geographical Science at UCT will
discuss ‘The emergence, spread and challenges of peace parks in
Africa.’

month of celebrating our heritage at Iziko Museums
In celebration of Heritage Month, Iziko Museums of Cape Town
hosts a calendar of stimulating events that promise to be as
diverse as our country and people. Included are exhibitions,
launches, behind-the-scenes tours, workshops and film
screenings. Entrance to all Iziko sites will be free on Heritage
Day, 24 September.
