Remembering
Rembrandt
Considered the greatest
artist of the Dutch school, his masterpieces provide a record of
contemporary Amsterdam life. It is a testament to the genius of
Rembrandt van Rijn that 400 years after his birth, he remains a
giant in the history of art.
To mark the anniversary of his birth, Dr Hans Fransen presents
an illustrated talk at 17:00 on Heritage Day, 24 September, at
the Old Town House, home of the famous
Michaelis Collection
which boasts, amongst its many treasures, several of the
master's etchings as well as numerous works from the Rembrandt
School.
Hosted by Friends of the Michaelis Collection and entitled
"Rembrandt: Man of his time/timeless man", the event costs R75,
including wine and refreshments after the talk. Enq: 021
481 3933.
