School Holiday Programme:

If you're wondering what to do or where to go these school holidays, the Iziko Planetarium is always a dazzling destination.

Running from 23 September until 1 October are a variety of shows for stargazers of all ages. Young astronomers can join Davy Dragon on a trip to the moon, while teens and adults can view "Oceans in Space" to discover whether other life-forms exist in the universe. "The Sky Tonight" is in its regular 13:00 slot on weekend.

2. Starfinder Astronomy Course

Spend quality time with the stars this summer by discovering how to identify the heavenly bodies and their constellations. Learn about the visible, and invisible, night sky, the celestial sphere, the rising and setting of the sun, the earth's wobble, movement of the moon and planets, and more.

Each Wednesday night from 4-25 October, from 08:00-10:00, Tony Fairall, Professor of Astronomy at UCT, presents his popular Starfinder Astronomy Course at Iziko Planetarium. The cost of the course which includes lecture notes, tea and a certificate, costs R170. Tickets are available from the Museum shop which is open daily from 10:00-17:00. Early booking advisable.
