On 27 Sept at 13:00 at the Iziko SA National Gallery, Marilyn
Martin, Director of Art Collections, takes listeners out of
Africa and into Paris where the newest state museum, Musée du
Quai Branly, displays 3600 selected heritage artworks from
Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Americas. The building serves as a
cultural , research and teaching centre and is of great
significance. Designed by a leading French architect, it is
situated on a UNESCO World Heritage site along the Seine.
On 30 September at 14:30 at the
Old Town House, Hayden Proud of
Iziko Museums, takes visitors on a walkabout of the
"Woman from
Delft", an exhibition by gifted late Dutch artist and South
African resident, Marianne Podlushac (1934-2002) whose engaging
artworks concentrate on colourful personalities as well as
social issues of the time.
