Vergelegen Homestead - more
than just a pretty face
The historical and picturesque
Vergelegen Homestead in Somerset West, the original of which was
created in 1700 by Adriaan van der Stel, will be on view to
guests and Friends of SA
National Gallery on Saturday 27 January at 10:30. The
interiors have been meticulously remodelled and the artworks -
including some from Iziko's collections - carefully selected to
portray the lifestyle of the era.
Hayden Proud, curator of pre-20th century paintings and
sculpture at Iziko SA National
Gallery, leads the tour. Entry is R70 for Friends, R90 for
guests, including refreshments.
