18/06/2007 Multi-faceted Winter Programme - workshops, walkabouts, talks

Iziko Museums' 2007 multi-faceted Winter Public Programme runs from 7 - 30 July and offers events for all age-groups. It includes beading and mosaic workshops, art and Bo-Kaap walkabouts, film screenings and public lectures on topics ranging from art to fossils to the role of editorial cartoons.

One of Iziko's fundamental aims and objectives is to invest not only in the intellectual and academic development of visitors but also in broadening access to our heritage sites and collections.

Local and international museum practitioners will introduce and unravel topics of environmental, socio- and geo-political concerns whilst speakers include Jonathan 'Zapiro' Shapiro, well-known cartoonist and political commentator; Zayd Minty, arts and heritage commentator, cultural activist and curator and Dr Roger Smith, Iziko's world-famous palaeontologist.

All lectures and film screenings are free of charge.

For a full programme of events, contact Vivienne Carelse at 021-481 3814 or Wandile Goozen Kasibe at 021 481 3804 or 083 3356 461 or email: publicprogs@iziko.org.za or visit the Winter Public Programmes page. Early booking is advisable.
