17/09/2007 Become a model ship builder on Heritage Day

The fine art of ship model building will be demonstrated at the new Iziko Maritime Centre in the V & A Waterfront on Heritage Day (24 September). Among the techniques presented will be carving and planking ship boats, rope making and rigging a ship, making guns, rudders and anchors, and lots more. If worming and serving rope, making dead eyes and rudder pintles mean nothing to you, come and be enlightened on Heritage Day! There will be three partially completed ships on view. The Maritime Centre is housed in the old Union Castle Building. Doors open at 10h00 and close at 17h00.
