Get thee to the Gallery before 14
October
Due
to preparations for the long-awaited
Marlene Dumas exhibition,
which runs at Iziko South African
National Gallery from 8 November until 13 January, two current
exhibitions will close earlier than previously advertised.
Art enthusiasts still have until 14 October to view ‘Imbacu:
Art from the Inside/Outside’ and ‘Art
from Rorke’s Drift’. ‘Imbacu’ focuses on South African artists
who were directly or indirectly affected by apartheid-era ‘exile’,
such as Colin Richards, Jane Alexander, Dumile Feni, Ernest Cole and
Ronald Harrison. ‘Art from Rorkes Drift’ reflects a variety of
talents that were nurtured at the Rorke’s Drift art centre in
KwaZulu-Natal. The works, which include prints, drawings and
tapestries, were created during the 60s and 70s when art training
was, for the most part, denied to black artists.
The Gallery is open daily from
10:00–17:00, except Mondays. Enquiries: Tel. 021 467 4660.
