26/11/2007 Holiday workshops for the young and young at heart.

Every summer holiday, Iziko Museums can be relied upon for a fabulous programme of events for the young and young at heart. This summer is no exception!

On Wednesday 5 December, Iziko’s Amazing T-race Treasure Hunt takes place from 11:00-13:00. Under the supervision of the Iziko education team, participants will search for clues tucked away in strange places across three Iziko museum sites. This is a test of speed and knowledge and is ideal for ‘eager beavers’ aged 8 years and older. Entry is R20 per person.

By popular demand, the special Night-time Treasure Hunt for families and adults is back and will take place on Tuesday, 4 December from 18:15–20:15 at Iziko South African Museum. The cost is R20 per person.

Beading workshops with a difference take place on Thursday, 6 December and Wednesday, 12 December from 11:00-13:00 when participants will make beaded balls and star decorations to add extra sparkle to the festive season. Workshops are suitable for everyone from 5 years upwards, but those under 8 are advised to bring along an adult to lend a hand! The cost is R30 per participant, including materials.

Iziko presents two-hour Slavery walking trails on request. These popular guided tours, suitable for anyone aged 16 years and older, follow a route from the Iziko Slave Lodge to the Slave Church in Long Street, and include the Iziko Bo-Kaap Museum and other important slavery heritage sites. The cost is R20 per person. Enquiries to drhodes@iziko.org.za
