During February, Iziko Museums’ Department of Education and Public Programmes is offering a variety of teachers’ workshops based on age-old arts and crafts. 21 and 22 February from 14:30-17:00 at Iziko SA Museum - paper-making workshop. During this environmentally friendly project, participants will learn to make, colour and design their own paper. The cost is R20 per person.

28 and 29 February from 15:00-17:00 at Iziko SA National Gallery Annexe – Puppet-making workshop. Mali puppets are amongst the most enchanting of this artform. Participants will use recycled materials to create a ‘kinetic’ puppet which will help motivate learners, add interest to lessons and provide an excellent tool for special needs teachers. The cost is R30 per person.

1 March from 10:00-14:00 at the Castle of Good Hope – Drum-making workshop. Participants will use recycled and household materials to create their own drums, and have fun learning to play them. The cost is R100 per person.
