Cape Town, 8 February 2008 --The following statement on the postponement of the exhibition Timbuktu: Script & Scholarship has been issued by Iziko CEO, Professor Henry (Jatti) Bredekamp:

“I would like to advise our stakeholders and our loyal public that the exhibition of manuscripts, Timbuktu: Script & Scholarship, which was scheduled to open early in February at the Castle of Good Hope, has been postponed.

The South African and Malian governments are working at a high level to facilitate the rescheduling of the exhibition for later in the year. We will notify the media of the new dates as soon as we are advised by the Department of Arts and Culture.”
