Africa’s Wealth – Explorat ion, Useand Conservat ion of Biodiversity
5 June to 13 September

Biological diversity, or biodiversity for short, is of fundamental necessity for the survival of humankind. The ecological processes taking place in our environment depend on biodiversity to guarantee the multitude of things we need for our day-to-day existence.Africa’s Wealth celebrates the richness of our African environment and the importance of conserving and managing it for the sake of our own survival. Most of the information is derived from the “Biodiversity Transect Analysis in Africa” (BIOTA) research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The project involved investigating African biological diversity and its benefits for humankind, and assessing causes for its change and disappearance. More than 350 scientists from Africa and Europe participated in this project. Africa’s Wealth has been exhibited at the Museum Koenig in Bonn, Germany and later this year it will travel to Kenya, on its tour through the continent.
