South-eastern wing

A door with steps leads from the upper hall into a short passage with friezes painted on the wall. These rooms were possibly used as pantry and store rooms. According to Dr Purcell all walls, windows, ceiling beams, and flooring are part of the old structure of the house. The rooms now contain a modern bathroom and kitchen and would originally have been one room.

Until recently it was occupied by the resident curator but is now used for educational activities amongst others and is not generally open to the public.
