Celebrate Summer at the hearth of our heritage

Dive into our Heritage with Iziko Museums of Cape Town as it launches its Celebrate Summer campaign. The campaign will run from the 15th December 2009 until Human Rights day on the 21st March 2010. Access coupons will be available at malls, tourist information stands and newspaper cut-outs. These coupons will permit free access for two adults to any of the Iziko Museums of Cape Town (excluding the Castle of Good

Aids and Emancipation Day

On 1st December - World Aids and Emancipation Day, Iziko Museums of Cape Town will commemorate these two global occurrences by granting the public free access to all its sites. On the 1st December, the public is invited to join Iziko staff at the Iziko Castle of Good Hope for a guided tour of the Not Alone exhibition, attend an interactive performance workshop at Rust and Vreugd, as well as attend talks about HIV/Aids and Human Trafficking at the Iziko Slave Lodge...

Iziko Museums of Cape Town plays host to a thought provoking programme of public events between Wednesday 17th June and Saturday 25 July, when the Cape Town Holocaust Centre hosts a programme of public events. Titled “Champions of the Child”, the events take place both at the Iziko South African National Gallery and at the Cape Town Holocaust Centre. The focus of these events is on the life and legacy of Janusz Korczak and the rights of youth and children.

Renovations at Iziko 01/04/2009
In keeping with our vision and mission,
Iziko Museums of Cape Town, with funding from the Department
of Public Works (DPW), is installing wheelchair access at our sites.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our valued visitors,
but thank you for bearing with us as we improve our museums’
accessibility for all. Sites affected include the Iziko Slave Lodge, Bo-Kaap Museum, Rust en Vreugd, the Old Town House
and Koopmans-De Wet House.

alike can look forward to a bumper line-up of exhibits at Iziko
Museums of Cape Town throughout 2009. "Our job here at Iziko Museums
of Cape Town is primarily about sharing knowledge and providing
access to our museums. It is also important that we forge new
partnerships and shift existing audiences towards a wider
interpretation of our natural history, art history and social
history collections," says Professor H.C. (Jatti) Bredekamp, CEO of
Iziko Museums of Cape Town.
