The
John H Marsh Maritime Research Centre is a resource centre for
those interested in South Africa's maritime heritage.
The core of its reference material is the library of the John H
Marsh Maritime Collection with several hundred shipping reference
books going back to the 1800s. The Centre also holds the negatives
and photographs of 9 200 ships that called at Cape Town during the
twentieth century. After the closure of the SA Maritime Museum in
2006, the Centre moved to new premises in the new Iziko Maritime
Centre, located at the Union Castle Building in the V&A Waterfront,
Cape Town.
