Africa’s Finest at Iziko

The prestigious Nature’s Best Photography Africaexhibition returns to the Iziko South African Museum this November. A culmination of winning photographs submitted for the African-focused photographic competition, this exhibition draws attention to the spectacular diversity of Africa’s flora and fauna. The competition enables us to distill these photographs to the best of all, and show these rare and inspiring images off to our visitors.

Yearly, amateur and professional photographers from around the world take thousands of images of Africa’s biodiversity and natural environments. We want to show the photographs that evoke an emotional reaction when viewed because of their beauty and the stories they tell. The competition consists of 12 categories: African Wildlife Portfolio, African Image of the Year, African Landscapes, Wild Cats of Africa Behavioural, Wild Cats of Africa Portraits, Birds of Africa Behavioural, Birds of Africa Portraits, Mammals of Africa Behavioural, Mammals of Africa Portraits, Reptiles of Africa, Africa at Sea, Africa Up Close, Art in African Wildlife, Youth Awards 18 years and under. The winning entries shown here will later also be displayed at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.

Nikon South Africa, NBP Africa, Iziko Museums of South Africa and the Da Vinci Institute will work together to launch and extend, from year to year, the educational component in order to promote photographic excellence, attract new audiences to photography, and to foster an appreciation for conservation of our natural resources. NGO partners include the African Wildlife Foundation and A Spring of Hope for community benefit and empowerment.

At the Iziko South African Museum from 8 November 2017 until 4 March 2018.
