Youth Day 2017 at Iziko – Free Entry!

Commemorate Youth Day with *FREE entry to *Iziko museums on 16 June 2017(*excluding the Planetarium and Digital Dome, Groot Constantia, and museums currently closed for maintenance). Discover and explore diverse collections of history, art and science.

Experience works of art made by the talented learners from the various Western Cape Education Department’s Art and Music Centres at the Iziko South African National Gallery Annexe. Musical performances by these learners will be taking place in and around the South African National Gallery between 10h00 and 17h00 on Youth Day.

The Iziko South African Museum is a great place for the young and young at heart – be amazed by African Dinosaurs, get in touch with the world we live in and see the whales in the Whale Well, or take a selfie in the jaws of a Megalodon!

Youth Day is a public holiday commemorating the 1976 Soweto student uprising - the protests that ignited further unrest and resistance against the Apartheid government.

Free entrance to the following Iziko Museums on Youth Day include the Iziko South African National Gallery, Iziko Slave Lodge, Iziko Bo-Kaap Museum, Koopmans de Wet House, Rust en Vreugd and the Maritime Centre at the V&A Waterfront.
