Wings and Things

The exhibition reflects the work produced by learners participating in the Ibhabhathane Project. They were bussed to the Sang for their lessons during the 4th Term, they visited the Gallery and were given lessons based on the exhibition "Birds of a Feather…".

The Ibhabhathane Project enables learners, teachers and communities from disadvantaged and poorly served areas to share ownership of institutions and cultural facilities in our city. The project facilitators offer lessons in the visual arts, craft and design, in-service training for teachers, an 'Art Teacher Learnership' scheme, and other awareness programmes. For this exhibition, the Ibhabhathane Schools have been joined by learners and students from a variety of other local Colleges and Schools.

The Ibhabhathane Project uses the facilities of the Frank Joubert Art & Design Centre, but is financially independent and relies on national and international donors for assistance and support.
