
Agnes Mpofu:
Agnes Mpofu is one of the women who produce paintings and appliquéd cloths
through the Weya Community Training Centre, a rural co-operative in Macheke,
Zimbabwe.It was initiated in 1982 and is funded by theWest German
Weldtfriedesdienst. The aim was to provide people with skills which would
stimulate small income-generating businesses.
Mpofu is also known as Mai Benjamin, or mother of Benjamin, according to the
practice of naming women after their first-born sons.
