Kim Siebert
Born: 1958, Johannesburg.
Makes collages, assemblages and ceramics. Explores the implications of appropriation and assimilation of images and elements from other contexts, which are mediated to assume new meanings. Also concerned with gender issues.
Training:
1977-1980: Michaelis School of Art, University of Cape Town

Masters degree).

Profile:
Lectured in Painting and Drawing at the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, in 1986
before becoming an Education Officer at the Tatham Art Gallery in 1987.
Employed at the South African National Gallery, Cape Town, as Education Officer in 1988;
became Chief Professional Officer in the Education Division in 1992.
Appointed Curator of Beadwork at same institution in 1994.
Works in partnership with Ella-Lou O'Meara, producing ceramics and ceramic transfers for Intaglio Ceramics.
