The Library has unique references on South African art including a collection of newspaper cuttings dating back to 1904 and a comprehensive pamphlet collection from the turn of the century. We also have an extensive range of international journals and books.

In line with museum policy, the Library develops projects to make its resources available to as many people in the community as possible.

The Library is open to the public, by appointment, from Tuesday to Friday 8:30 to 13:00, and 14:00 to 16:00.

South African art and artists 1994 - 1995

The South African National Gallery has produced the third CDROM version of the newscutting collection on South African contemporary art and artists, covering the years 1996-1998. This addition to the previous collection on CDROM and microfiche is a compilation of news articles on visual art. There are more than 4000 entries in the index which are directly linked to the relevant articles which include text and illustrations. The CDROM is available at a cost of R650- excluding postage.
