Egg, ostrich, decorated, Grootdrink farm, between Upington and Prieska,
Northern Cape
This decorated ostrich egg flask was found in a burial site in 1934.
The entire eggshell is decorated with a pattern of fine engraved
lines, cross-hatched bands as well and three flying birds. The
eggshell was found at a depth of about 3 metres together with a pot
and a skeleton, in a sitting position, richly adorned with ostrich
eggshell beads.
