Certificate, registry of
birth at the Slave Registry Office in Cape Town, of a female infant
named Sophie whose mother Sophie was then about 30 years old, 9
January 1827
Sophie was a housemaid in service of Dr Liesching, presumably the
German-born Frederich Ludwig Liesching (1757-1841), one of the most
prominent local physicians of the time. During the years 1814 to 1817
he also attended to the slaves at Groot Constantia.
