Planetarium
About the venue
Iziko Planetarium
The first Planetarium was opened in 1958 and presented popular star-shows for all Capetonians. Plans to acquire a larger and more sophisticated projector started in the late 1960s. Efforts were rewarded when the extensions to the S A Museum were opened in 1987. The present planetarium houses a modern Minolta star projector in a fully equipped audio-visual theatre.
The Planetarium is a unique facility for those who wish to enjoy an audio-visual extravaganza. The venue is particularly suitable for corporate and product launches, special events and multi-media presentations. Smaller and less specialized groups can also be accommodated. An adjacent area for cocktails and snacks is available, while in-house production facilities can be arranged at competitive rates.
