The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic requires that we face new challenges and embrace a new way of thinking – and in 2020 Iziko celebrated our heritage and histories differently.

As part of the in_herit FESTIVAL 2020, Iziko – in collaboration with the Art Centres of the Western Cape Education Department – hosted an online showcase of learners’ work, titled Our World, Our Heritage.

The exhibition includes work from learners in the Foundation Phase, Intermediate Phase, and Senior Phase, as well as from Further Education and Training learners. The artworks had been selected in response to the theme ‘Our World, Our Heritage’, and consist mainly of works on paper in a variety of wet and dry mediums.

The showcases were compiled by former Iziko Art Educator Yentl Kohler and feature music from the South Peninsula High School Band and the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre.
