The times, they are a’changing at Iziko museums… Following public demand and a review of visitor trends at our museum sites and the competing destinations in Cape Town, the Council of Iziko has determined that new opening times will be brought into effect from 1 April 2018. The sites that are open only a few days a week can be made available for school groups, as and when required, by arrangement. It is hoped that these new opening times will promote greater access to our museums, and have a positive impact on the visitor experience.
The Iziko South African Museum and Planetarium and Digital Dome; South African National Gallery; Slave Lodge; and Michaelis Collection at the Old Town House will all be open daily from 09h00–17h00.
The Castle of Good Hope and Groot Constantia’s opening times remain unchanged.
The Maritime Centre at the V&A Waterfront will be open daily from 09h00–16h00; while the Bo-Kaap Museum will be open Monday–Saturday, from 09h00–16h00.
The two smaller house museums, Koopmans-de Wet House and Rust en Vreugd will only be open Thursday–Friday, from 09h00–16h00. Bertram House will remain closed until further notice.
