Following the President’s address and the implementation of Adjusted Alert Level 4, and in the interest of the well-being of our staff and visitors, Iziko Museums of South Africa is closed to the public from today, Monday 28 June, 2021 for a period of 14 days – after which the situation will be reassessed.
All public programmes, planetarium shows, scheduled commemorative day events, the mobile museum outreach activities, venue-hire undertakings, tours to our museums, field trips and research related endeavours, as well as conferences, travel and meetings have been suspended. Public access to Iziko libraries and collections is also currently restricted. These measures are geared to prevent and reduce the impact of the Covid-19 third wave, and to prevent and reduce the internal transmission of the virus. The measures will be reviewed after the 14 days.
Iziko sincerely values the support of our visitors, and although the museum sites will be closed, visitors are encouraged to visit us online. Throughout this uncertain period, Iziko has been connected and working to showcase our unique work and collections on the website. Visit www.iziko.org.za to explore all that we have on offer, and keep up-to-date on our reopening and Covid-19 safety protocols. Make sure to also like, follow and share our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok!
