On Saturday, 11 of February 2023, the Nelson Mandela Museum, Iziko Museums of South Africa and the Robben Island Museum hosted the third edition of the Mandela Release Debate at the Iziko South African Museum.

Themed ’33 years of Nelson Mandela’s Release from Prison: Lessons Learnt, the discussion centered on speakers’ untold stories about Nelson Mandela’s life and times, both in and out of prison, and as the country’s first black president.
Among the panellists were: Ms. Xoliswa Ndoyiya, a well-known Chef of the late Dr Nelson Mandela and Mr. Sonwabile Ndamase; founder and president of the South African Fashion Designers Agency and Chief Executive Officer of the Vukani Fashion Awards.
The granddaughter of the late Nelson Mandela, Ms Ndleleka Mandela, ended the event with a vote of thanks on behalf of her family.
