Birds, beaches and beach bums: adventures of marine biologists in unravelling the roles of birds on our shores

George and Margo will talk about the extraordinary roles that birds play on our shores and in our estuaries, as prey, predators and competitors, the profound influence that they can have on the ecology of these systems and the ways in which researchers (beach bums!) have gone about elucidating these ecological interactions and effects.

Birds that will feature include oystercatchers, gannets, pelicans, sacred ibis, gulls, cormorants and flamingos. The talk will be richly illustrated with George’s photographs.

George and Margo are offering their books to the Friends at a discounted price. If you are interested, you may contact them directly after the lecture.
