We are seeking to appoint motivated employees in the following positions:

COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT (NATURAL HISTORY COLLECTIONS: VERTEBRATE KAROO PALEONTOLOGY (twelve-month fixed-term contract position) – 1 position

Basic Salary: R121 740 per annum, excluding benefits.

Requirements: Grade 12 • Proven experience in working with natural history museum specimens/collections • Proven experience in working with the Specify database or similar database. • Computer literacy in Microsoft 365 • A valid driver’s license is not a requirement but may be an advantage. 

FOSSIL PREPARATOR (NATURAL HISTORY COLLECTIONS: VERTEBRATE PALEONTOLOGY) (twelve-month fixed-term contract position) – 1 position

Basic Salary: R136 536 per annum, excluding benefits

Requirements: Grade 12 • Basic knowledge of zoology • Candidates should be able to sit for several hours looking through a microscope while painstakingly removing rock from fossil bones with an air scribe • Good hand-to-eye co-ordination and fine-motor skills essential.

ART BANK INTERNSHIPS DEPARTMENT

Iziko Museums of South Africa are African museums of excellence that empower and inspire all people to celebrate and respect our diverse heritage.

We are seeking to appoint 7 motivated interns who will be based in various departments for a period of 4 months. A stipend of R 5700 per month will be paid.

Applicants must be:

  • Unemployed
  • Between the ages of 18 – 35
  • Minimum NQF6 qualification or higher in a visual arts, art archival research, photography, art conservation, graphic design, art education, or multi-media design

Applications are hereby invited for a suitably qualified candidate to serve on the Audit and Risk Committee of the Iziko Museums of South Africa, a Schedule 3A Public Entity. A National Treasury regulated remuneration fee is payable to all committee members.

The successful candidate must have the relevant experience and reside in the Western Cape.
