Dr Wayne Florence is the Curator of Marine Invertebrates at the Iziko South African Museum. A bryozoan taxonomist who trained at the Natural History Museum in London, he also has a number of postgraduate students and spends as much time as possible in the field collecting samples for taxonomic and molecular research. In addition to working on upcoming exhibitions, Dr Florence heads up a team working on a special collaborative project called SeaKeys, which aims to mobilise historical biodiversity information and make it available in a digital format.
