Dr Wendy Black is the Director of Customer Services at Iziko Museums of South Africa, where she oversees facilities, infrastructure, ICT, health and safety, security, and visitor services across the organisation’s museum sites. She previously served for many years as Curator of Archaeology and later Chief Curator: Art and Social History, leading research, collections and exhibition programmes.
As an archaeologist, she specialised in the population history and bioarchaeology of the indigenous hunter-gatherer peoples of southern Africa. Her work focused on population dynamics and, later, on indigenous rights, human remains, restitution and repatriation. She also contributed to exhibition development and supervised postgraduate students before moving into her current operational leadership role.
