Mr Sifiso Sifunda was appointed CFO at Iziko Museums of South Africa in May 2026, Mr Sifunda brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in financial management, governance, and regulatory compliance. He is a results-driven professional, holding the designations of Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)), Registered Government Auditor (RGA(SA)), and Professional Accountant (SA), with over 13 years of experience in the public sector. He previously served as Chief Audit Executive at the Department of Basic Education in Mpumalanga Province, and as Deputy Director: Reporting within the same department. He holds a BCom in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), and has further qualifications and certifications from Wits, ETDP-SETA/EDUTEL, Milpark Education, and other institutions.
Throughout his career, Mr Sifunda has demonstrated the ability to translate complex frameworks including GRAP, MCS, IFRS, PFMA, DoRA, and Treasury Regulations into effective financial control environments, sustainability-aligned financial frameworks, and risk-based oversight mechanisms. His work has consistently delivered measurable improvements in governance, audit outcomes, and financial integrity. He has also led the preparation, review, and coordination of statutory submissions to the Auditor-General of South Africa, National Treasury, SCOPA, and other oversight bodies. In addition, he has overseen internal and external audit processes while ensuring sustained compliance across multi-million-rand operational, infrastructure, and conditional grant portfolios. Mr Sifunda is professionally affiliated with SAICA, SAIGA, and SAIPA.
